The drastic evolution of the film industry in Cameroon recently has been powered predominantly by passionate individuals with love to contribute to the budding film industry through huge sacrifice of their time, money and family to entertain the public. The little or no support from government and companies adds to the massive discouragement to many filmmakers who would have wished to be fully involved and partake in the affairs of organizing, participating or training the younger ones who shy away into other activities that can generate income for them to sustain livelihood.
It is on this basis that GMDA Pan-African institute of arts located at Simbock-Yaounde center region organized a ten days workshop to introduce young enthusiasts into the milieu of filmmaking with a handful of seasoned filmmakers with rich and outstanding professional backgrounds to facilitate the ten days program in the likes of Otia Vitalis Suh, Tatiana Matip, Anurine Nwunembom, Tanwie Elvis De dadies, Ibrahim Ndam and Chris Dohmusi who are household names in the film industry in Cameroon with focus to orient and drill the participants into the basics of Acting, directing, lighting, camera operation, script writing and Editing.
During the closing ceremony on their school campus this day the 28th of June 2019 at Simbock, the visionary founder of the Pan African Institute of Arts/GMDA and organizer of the workshop Mr. Elvis N. Gwokenye thanked all the facilitators for their total engagement and commitment not leaving out the participants whom he encouraged to make use of all what they have gathered and make good use of it. While lamenting bitterly on the unwillingness of most enthusiasts to take advantage of such rare opportunities to start building a professional career in filmmaking. He concluded by thanking Mr. Otia Vitalis the organizer of the Red Feathers Awards and the CEO of Na Level Empire Mr. Tanwie Elvis De dadies for their enormous support and encouragements to see the project implementation realistic.
The participants on their part couldn’t hold back their joy with messages of thanks and praises to all the facilitators and GMDA after such an intense exchange and capacity building exercise.
